A screen capture allows you to take a photo of your screen. With a Mac, you can do this easily by pressing Command/Shift/4 simultaneously (the command key is next to the space bar). Your mouse will change to a target symbol. Simply click and drag over the area you wish to photograph. When you release the click, you will hear a shutter sound. Your picture will be saved on the desktop as 'picture 1.png.'Snow Leopard now says'Screenshot (date).png'
What is a screencast?
Basically a screencast is recording what is on your computer screen. It's useful for creating tutorials as it allows viewers to see what's happening on your monitor, mouse movements and allows you to narrate.
If you are running Snow Leopard on a Mac, did you know Quicktime Player X now lets you do screencasts?
Open Quicktime and go to File > New Screen Recording and use the pulldown menu (the little arrow) to select your settings and save destination.
